Ho, Ho, Ho !!!! Educational Links for the Holidays

Dear A-Team:

I put the Spring 2012 flyers on my blog. www.sewalongwithjoanie.wordpress.com. They are PDF files that can be downloaded and printed. I added an article from Sew Pro’s to the right hand column. It is a great article concerning how to buy your FIRST sewing machine. It is also a PDF file, so you can download it and print it. Look for it behind the Sew Pro’s logo. I’m still working on the syllabi for Spring 2012. I will let you know when I have them up for you to download and print to bring to class.

I hope Santa gives you everything you want this year. I also hope that you have a healthy, happy and SAFE New Year !!!! I am going to fill the rest of this blog post up with interesting links. This will keep you in the educational mood over the holiday break. Classes will resume at San Diego Continuing Education on Tuesday, January 3, 2012. I will send out a regular A-Team email on January 1 or 2, 2012.

Dear Embroiderer
Do you ever have trouble removing the small bits of water-soluble topping that remain inside small openings in your
embroidery? At this time of year you may be using topping frequently to embroider pile fabrics like fleece jackets and
blankets. There’s a way to remove it much more easily than simply moistening it with plain water. Here’s how –
In a spray bottle, place one part liquid fabric softener and six parts plain water. Mix thoroughly.
The addition of the fabric softener helps to dissolve the water-soluble topping much in the same way that wallpaper
professionals use fabric softener when removing wallpaper. To be sure that your fabric won’t be stained by this small ratio of fabric softener, test in an inconspicuous area. There are two great benefits of using this removal method. First, you don’t need to get the item as moist as you must to remove the topping with water alone. Second, when the item is removed from a bag or box, the recipient is met with a fresh, inviting scent! Deborah Jones – Your Embroidery Mentor
