Dear A-Team:
This past Saturday, I had my one and only holiday party with the Creative Stitchery Guild. As it is every year, it is FABULOUS !!!!!! Of course, I got lost even with the Garmin. The food was great !!!! The camaraderie was terrific !!! This year, I did a dreidle ornament. Next year…..I got plans already started in my head.
After the luncheon, I went on to La Jolla to someplace you just got to see !!!! One of my former students has opened up a high end fabric and custom sewing store called: Gwen Couture. It is absolutely gorgeous !!!! Check out the picture !!! See attached. I collaged 4 pictures together.
She can order the most fabulous wool for suits!! Her button wall is incredible!!! And the fabrics are to die for !!!! She gave me the most wonderful article about the price of jeans and WHY they cost $300. I will bring this to class. Elaine is bringing an article concerning Armani Trench Coats that sell for over $56,000.
Go to: Gwen Couture

The Courses:
Niche Marketing/Embroidery. Last Monday, I had to close the class early. I must have eaten something that just didn’t agree with me. On Wednesday, we had Quiz 10 and worked on our embroidery editing in Embird. This Monday, we will be stitching out and have quiz 11. I am going to show Malvyn how to sew his zodiac together. This will be a fun class !!!!
Tote Bag course. This past week we embellished our tote front and machine cover front. Then we serged all our edges so that our fabric does NOT ravel. I showed how to sew your pockets with the maxi piping, iron them and then finish them off at home, so that they are ready to sew in. Notice how the pockets “shrunk” when they were ironed. I also hope you all noticed that we are working on ALL THE DETAILS FIRST. This is important to do in the construction of anything you sew. Serging all the edges made sure that nothing will ravel. Other things to do for homework were: Recut piece 12 and 19 to the correct size after you finish your embellishing. Cut the Peltex ½ inch smaller all the way around. This week in class, you will learn all about fusing and marking. We will also continue to work on our pockets by machine stitching them into the inside of our totes. Terrell took the final orders for the 48 inch zippers. WE will be sewing them in, on December 15. If you missed the cut off, you can use 2 metal 24-inch zippers. So many new things to learn !!!!!!!!!!!!!
There is a great free pionetta from Advanced Embroidery: http://www.advanced-embroidery-designs.com/freedesign.html
