Summer School has begun !!!

Hello A-Team:

What an exciting first week !!!! Each course was full of surprises. On Saturday, we had a fandango field trip. We went to the National City Swap Meet, Central Sewing, Tyler’s for lunch, then to the Memory Lane Quilt Shop. If you want to duplicate the trip because you couldn’t go, here is all the information. A good time was had by all !!!!!!

Saturday, June 15, 2013: Fandango Field Trip.

11 AM. Central Sewing. 1125 North 2nd Street. El Cajon. 619-447-3244.

No Host Lunch @ Tyler’s. Right off Highway 8, Behind Union Bank. 619-444-9295

2 PM. Memory Lane Quilt Shop. 1626 North Magnolia Avenue. El Cajon. 619-562-2288

In Drape Drape, which is NOT a draping course, we studied HOW to create the fashions in our text book. Remember, I will supply the nylon tricot interfacing. Just take what you need and leave the rest for the rest of the class. I ordered 1 inch wide “inter-fus-rol.” The roll is 200 yards. This stuff will stop stretching. Trust me, you will like it. You use it in place of cutting strips of the nylon tricot. Let’s see how long it takes to get here from LA.

Remember to bring your photocopied and (if needed exploded) resized patterns. You will also need 3 or 4 highlighters. (I had trouble seeing a yellow highlighter through a sheet of pattern paper. This could be just me.) I have pattern paper in which you can use to trace off the patterns. Many of you, will have to cut and paste your patterns together. Remember the circle symbols??? They will become your best friends.

Don’t think that this is the end of all your pattern fitting concerns. There is always tweaking to be done……….to get the perfect fit.

In Computerized Machine Embroidery, we did our first stitch outs. Some of you, were not pleased. Trust me, good embroidery takes time. You will get there. Give yourself time to learn the tricks. A special shout out to Nancy!!! She fixed one of the embroidery machines so that we have 6 to use.

Remember to bring your 4 gig USB on Tuesday with your purse embroideries on it. Print out your PDF instructions and your color charts. You will need these on Tuesday to take notes on. We will be in room 203 for the class. On Tuesday, we will manipulate the designs in Embird. You will need all your purse supplies on Thursday, to begin stitching out the purse project.
