In the Portfolio course: We started sewing our control sheets, and learned about basting stitches vs default stitches. And we learned about the famous 2 by 2 stitch which is used to sew knits when you do not own or want to use a serger. Last Thursday, we learned about seam finishes and we sewed our half size bodice. Next week, we will be learning all about different kinds of seams. We will also learn how to sew darts.
In the Patternmaker course: we printed our sloper patterns. Now we are ready to cut and sew the patterns up to check the fit of our measurements. We have a top and a bottom. Some of you decided on doing a skirt. Others decided on pants. No need to add any zippers or buttons. This muslin toile is just to check the fit. If the fit is correct, then whatever we design in Patternmaker will fit like a dream. Next Thursday, we will be back in the computer room. We will be learning how to use Patternmaker’s tools. I must give a shout out to Anet!! She earned 5 points extra credit for measuring another student PERFECTLY in one shot. The sloper pattern turned out perfect. This is proof that it CAN be done!!!!
I have a student who needs some sewing help. Read below……..
